Dear parent,
My name is Nóirín Buckley and I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist working in the Children’s Disability Network team in Ennis. I am also doing a Doctoral Thesis at the University of Galway.
I am doing my research on the brothers and sisters of children with a disability. Thus, this survey may or may not be relevant to you.
You received this text link as a parent of a child who is with your local Children’s Disability Network Team.
If your child, who attends this service, has brothers or sisters, without a disability, between the age of 8 years and 17 years, 11 months, I would like to invite you and them to take part in my research study. My study will look at how siblings feel about having a brother or sister with a disability and how their family is getting along. I am looking for a minimum of 200 siblings to take part in this study in order to be able to answer the questions I am researching.
Participation is completely voluntary and completely anonymous.
The survey can be done any time in the next few weeks – by completing two short questionnaires online.
Participation Information Leaflets give details of the research for you and your child to read
The following Parent Participation Information Leaflet will hopefully answer your questions (View)
There are two child information leaflets for siblings, depending on their age:
If you decide to participate, you can access the survey by clicking on this LINK TO SURVEY
I have been given ethics permission to send another text in a fortnight’s time. This reminder text will be the last correspondence about this study. As it is being sent by administration in bulk format, apologies and thank you for your understanding to those of you who will receive this reminder for whom this research invitation does not apply.
Thank you for reading this.
Kind Regards,
Nóirin Buckley
