About West Limerick

The West Limerick Early Intervention and School Age Teams provide specialist therapeutic assessment and intervention to children with complex disabilities and/or developmental delay in the West Limerick catchment area. The service is a partnership between the Brothers of Charity (Limerick) and the HSE.

The service is child and family centred and is offered across a range of settings. These may include the centre, home, school and preschool as appropriate.

Children access services though either the Early Intervention team (from Birth to approximately 6 years) or through the School Age Team (from approximately 6 – 18 years of age).

The teams strive to deliver an interdisciplinary service which is:

Both West Limerick Early Intervention Team and School Age Team offer services which include the following range of disciplines:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Early Intervention Specialist (on the Early Intervention Team)
  • Education Intervention Specialist (on the School Age Team)

All of these disciplines are supported by a Children’s Services Manager, Administrator & Clerical personnel.

Volunteers needed:

The Domain Youth Club in conjunction with West Limerick Children’s Services, Newcastlewest Youth Club and Limerick Youth Services are looking for volunteers to support them in the running of the club.
The club is a youth space for young adults with additional needs. This club is run in Newcastle West on a weekly bases during term time and will provide young people with a supervised and supportive environment where they can engage in a number of activities, i.e. sport, art, dance, drama and information workshops. All volunteers will be Garda vetted and full training will be provided.
