About East Limerick

Freedom of Information

The East Limerick Early Intervention and School Age Teams provide specialist therapeutic assessment and intervention to children with complex disabilities and/or developmental delay in the East Limerick catchment area. The service is a partnership between the Daughters of Charity and the HSE.

The service is child and family centred and is offered across a range of settings. These may include the centre, home, school and preschool as appropriate.

Children access services though either the Early Intervention team (from Birth to approximately 6 years) or through the School Age Team (from approximately 6 – 18 years of age).

The teams strive to deliver an interdisciplinary service which is:

  • Child and Family Centred
  • Team Based
  • High Quality
  • Accessible
  • Integrated
  • Safe

Both East Limerick Early Intervention Team and School Age Team offer services which include the following range of disciplines:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Early Intervention Specialist (on the Early Intervention Team)

All of these disciplines are supported by a Children’s Services Manager, Administrator & Clerical personnel.

East Limerick Children’s Services also provides Community Nursing support which provides a broad range of services to children again between the age of Birth -18 years and their families. The Community nurse will visit each child in his/her own home/school.

Also, in East Limerick is the Play n’ Learn preschool which provides an early learning stimulation programme for children in the mid-west area.

Our pre-school caters for children between the ages of 3-6 years, presenting with learning, medical or physical difficulties. We endeavour to provide a service which incorporates learning through play in a safe and secure environment.
